Complements the later book above with much informative text describing a huge number of fine old photographs including Bluestone Ford where Jim and George played as boys. Contains a not often seen photograph of Duns Town Hall in the Market Square. If Jim was living abroad in 1966 he could have been relieved to not witness the demolition of a building so imposing that it looks out of place despite being Listed but nevertheless allowed to fall into a dangerous condition. An interesting book not to be overlooked.

RACERS Memoirs of the gentleman drivers by Anthony Pritchard. Racers is a collection of reminiscences of drivers from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, who all raced for the sheer joy of competing and were, in the main, serious amateur competitors. The racing drivers profiled are: Cliff Allison, Mike Anthony, Bob Berry, Peter Blond, Noel Cunningham-Reid, Hugh Dibley, Keith Hall, Brian Joscelyne, John Lepp, Trevor Line, Kenneth McAlpine, John Miles, Geoff Richardson,
Tony Rolt, Jean Salmon, Jonathan Sieff, Ian Skailes, Tommy Sopwith, Ian Stewart, Jimmy Stewart, Peter Sutcliffe, Michael Taylor, Eric Thompson, John Tojeiro, Sir Paul Vestey, Ecurie Ecosse mechanics Pat Meehan (Duns) and Stan Sproat. Some of the drivers are associated with Ecurie Ecosse whilst a few also raced in the Borders. Published by Palawan Pess in 2011 as slip-cased limited editions either clothbound (500) or leatherbound (50 signed). It is a relatively high cost for a Genuine Numbered book so it is worth noting that my own much cheaper copy without slip-case is labelled "EX-LIBRIS" "FELIX-DENNIS" and penciled in is "550 copies", there is no number written on the line beneath the author's name where you would expect one.

Cedric Selzer was one of the Team Lotus mechanics for Jim Clark who inevitably became his dear friend and hero. This book charts Cedric's arrival in England, and the success he enjoyed working with Jim and other drivers at Team Lotus as well as recalling many stories from his varied career. A fascinating story centred around working in Colin Chapman's racing team, I can't help feeling that deep mutual respect and the will to win always overcame their frustrations.

Written by Innes himself to reflect his roaring, high-spirited approach to motor racing. His very first race was in 1952 at Boreham in a 3-litre Bentley and then he took it up to Charterhall on 25th May 1953 MlinkS . This was after National Service however during his training with the KOSB in Berwick Upon Tweed he took part in a Bentley Owners' Club rally nearby.
Innes bought Alec Calder's Brooklands Riley. Despite having no actual reference to Charterhall, it is a really good down to earth read.

This book marries together a study of a great period in the life of Jim Clark with the history of a great British marque, featuring in particular the famous Lotus 25, from its golden 1963 World Championship-winning year, through subsequent owners and crashes until the remains are discovered and the gallant old charger is restored to its original specification.

An unusual book from 1967 which is full of detailed information provided in many cases by the teams themselves. Not in colour due to the cost precluding the presenting guaranteed accuracy of colour. Nevertheless if paint is your thing, the book uses three main description sources:
British Standard Colour Charts Numbering
I.C.I Colour Numbering
Shade Card descriptions used by the leading motor and paint manufacturers
Much information is given on team histories, a mine of information.

This book is divided into over 150 sections which investigate and discuss the transporters of individual teams, privateers, manufacturers, constructors and record-breakers. Contains nearly 550 images and I believe from reviews that David Murray's first Merchiston Motors transporter is included and Border Reivers also appear in the Index. Originally £59 from the Publisher, now very collectible and rare. Review
